This spa hotel has to be one of the best all round Spa’s I have been to and I have experienced a lot (definitely counting on two hands).
It is perfectly set up for all types of spa trips, whether you’re a couple, mother and daughter, group of friends or even a hen party it caters for all.
I have visited on weekends and mid week, and yes mid week is my most favoured time as it’s just that bit more spacious and you can book last minute treatments. But when visiting on peak Whittlebury Hall isn’t horrific and you will always enjoy your time there, you may just have to get bit snug in the sauna or battle for a lounger by the pool.
For day spa our day normally starts about 9am, which can be an early start as it is in Northampton but it’s well worth it. The most convenient way to get there is by car.
We always stop for a cheeky hot chocolate on the journey
Once you are all booked in at reception and received your Itinerary for the day you are shown to one the blocks of changing rooms and inside a locker you are provided with a white robe and towel, yours for the day (just don’t forget to bring your flip flops as these aren’t provided and are essential). In the changing rooms there are hairdryers, straighteners, face cleanser and pads, dreamy smelling hand soap and lotions and nice showers. Extra towels though have to be requested at reception.
There are two main sections to the Whittlebury Hall spa which helps keep everyone entertained. One consists of a large swimming pool with 2 hot tubs, 2 saunas, 2 steam rooms surrounded by sun loungers. The other comprises of the “heat and ice experience” part of the spa. It includes a hydro pool, ice room, variety of different themed saunas and steam rooms, plus warm benches and heated loungers. One of my favourite saunas is the rainforest in which you can exepreicne the sound of bird song, running water and green calming lights.
Elsewhere in the complex there are lots of hidden places where you can take 5 and relax including an area full of water beds behind soft white curtains and low level lighting, you will nod off in no time.
This is predominantly an indoor spa, none of the facilities are outside and there aren’t many seating areas if it’s sunny.
The treatments vary depending on the package you go with. But every treatment I have had here has been excellent from facials, massages, exfoliation and nails, you won’t be disappointed. With facials the therapists always ask about your current skin routine and offer advice and recommendations. There is no hard sell and I have often found myself taking on their advice whether that’s adding eye cream into my routine or trying a new exfoliator. There is a shop on site too which houses all the products they use so you can treat yourself if you want to. Last time I was there I picked up some incredible ESPA products which I will tell you about in a future blog.
Here is me looking fresh faced after a facial!
Because all that spa’ing is hard work you will obviously be excited to eat and maybe even have a little tipple. Lunch is served in one of the large restaurants or meeting rooms, which of course you can eat in your white robe!
There are hidden little treats dotted around this spa which adds to your whole experience including; free magazines, ice buckets with orange and lemon which you can use with a flannel to cool off, free fruit tea and fruit in most main areas so you can also have a nibble and keep hydrated through the day.
I have been privileged enough to attend a couple of hen parties here and it is great fun. It’s very reasonable and accommodates large groups easily. Most of the time they try and time your treatments at similar times but for very large groups this isn’t always possible so just be aware. There isn’t much in the way of entertainment in the evening either but there is a bar so if you want a more laid back hen it is ideal.
Here are me and my girls on a hen do a few years back!
Deals and offers for this spa seem to be very regular and if you book far enough in advance you can normally get the day you want. Obviously, Saturdays are a bit more lucrative so book as far in advance as you can. I have always booked online and have signed up to their email alerts so I never miss a deal!
Why I like this spa:
Great value for money
Suitable for big groups
Ideal for laid back hen parties
Perfect for the colder months
