This higher end spa was a real treat to myself and came at a time which in my personal life was incredibly tough. We had recently had to cancel a holiday to the USA due to a family illness and I was very much in need of some escapism and R&R.
We did a midweek spa break, staying in one of the stable rooms. The location of this spa hotel is rural and very scenic, you are wowed by the house the minute you head up the drive. It is full of character and charm throughout and the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly.
The package included an overnight stay, use of the spa, 25 minute facial, dinner and breakfast.
Our room was bright, light and white, instant tranquillity. The vast room had a spiral staircase in the corner that lead to a wet room with a roll top bath which was perfectly situated next to the window fabulous for long soaks and nature watching. Hidden in the wardrobe was two white robes for us to get comfy in. There are Hunter wellies also you can borrow for free to explore the surroundings.
The spa is located a few minutes walk from the main house through the manicured gardens. Don’t be put off by its size as it is very luxurious and has hidden rooms. The main pool however is outside but is heated and more like a large hot tub with hydrotherapy jets.
I think you will agree it is a stunning pool to relax in:
I loved the quirky features in this spa, including your after treatment experience. Once I finished my facial I was lead to a softly lit room full of large comfy chairs. On the wall a video of grass swaying in the wind featured. It was a place of pure relaxation. A few minutes later the therapist brought me some mango sorbet to help renovate my senses. This little touch was perfectly timed and memorable.
The main relaxation room over looks the pool and gardens, the perfect spot to watch the sunset in your robe and slippers.
After our spa afternoon we made our way back to the main house to have a gin by the fire before dinner.
There is the option to go watch a film in their cinema room hut also hidden in the gardens were you and your guests are treated to free popcorn.
This spa hotel is definitely on the more high end scale but for a treat it is well worth it.
