If you have been reading my blog from the beginning you’ll know how much I like having a glow, especially a tanned glow. With a high risk of skin cancer running in my family I have always been a big fan of faking my tan.
A tan makes me feel more body confident giving me the boost I need to brave a bikini or shorts.
The fake tanning market is crowded so it can be hard to choose the right one for you. Not to mention a risky one, no one wants to end up looking like a tangerine! I therefore wanted to share my current fake tan favourites with you as I have used all these products for a while and had great results.
Obviously before undertaking any type of tanning you need to exfoliate and moisturize to ensure an even application.
My everyday fake tan is the Dove Derma Spa Summer Revived. It is built into a moisturiser so it layers up daily . It’s doesn’t have a biscuit smell and goes on smoothly. The cream itself if actually really moisturing unlike some tan moisturizers I have tried. I apply it with my hands after every shower. The colour builds up slowly with each application and because you are only applying a fine layer each day it builds up evenly. Do remember however to wash your hands after every use as it can stain, specially around your nails.
If I want a dark tan for a night out or special event I use the Bondi Sands liquid gold. I have used this product for over a year and love it so much. It comes in a spray bottle and is a brown liquid. I apply this tan with a tanning mitt. I use 7 sprays on the mitt per limb and 7 sprays for my torso. You do have to take your time to ensure you have covered each part of your body as the liquid doesn’t stay Brown coloured after you have rubbed it in. The best feature about this tan is that you can tan and go. You don’t need to wait for ages for it to dry. Although I probably wouldn’t put white jeans straight on, I have never had a problem with colour transfer. It has a sweet smell of coconut that reminds me of being on holiday.
Last, but no means least, is the tan I use every night on my face to ensure I awake to a nice glow. The L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Overnight Elixir Face and Body Tan has been a staple in my skincare for months now. You don’t need alot of this product as a small amount goes along way. The severe brown colour helps ensure your application is even. The smell however is biscuity so I would avoid using this if you can’t shower before you go out. The colour doesn’t transfer on my white pillow cases either which has been a win for me!
So that’s all my current favourites to ensuring i have a summer glow. What’s your favourite tan?
